The Man Who
INTRODUCED DANCE
to
BOLLYWOOD
Bollywood has not seen typical dance movements in the past which frequently happen in South
Indian films. However there has been a slow and drastic change as the Bollywood audience are now
particular about dance and item numbers.
After South Indian movies have reached
the Bollywood audience, they are now
specific about dance. Remo D’Souza is
one choreographer who has intense and
stupendous talent in dance. He has been a man
with multiple talents and he has proved his skills as
a dancer, choreographer, actor and film director.
Although he is mainly involved in choreography, he
has also contributed to other Indian film industries,
mainly Bengali cinema. He is currently a judge
in the show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa with the Indian
actress Madhuri Dixit and the director Karan
Johar. His first movie as a director, F.A.L.T.U, was a
moderate success at the box office.He made India’s
first 3D dance movie, ABCD - AnyBody Can Dance,
with contestants from series 1 and 2 of Dance India
Dance (Dharmesh Yelande,Salman Khan, Bhavna
and Prince) and Prabhu Deva and Lauren Gottlieb
fromSo You Think You Can Dance.
His next directorial venture ABCD 2 is set to
release in June 2015. It stars Varun Dhawan ,
Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhu Deva in lead roles
with Lauren Gottlieb, Raghav Juyal and Dharmesh
Yelandein supporting roles. He hails from
Olavakkode, Palakkad, Kerala. He is born to Gopi
Nair, an Air force officer and Madhaviyamma, a
housewife, at Olavakkode, Kerala. He has an elder
brother, Ganesh Gopi and 3 younger sisters. As his
father was an Indian Air Forceofficial, he studied
in various parts of India, mainly in North India.
He did his schooling in Jamnagar, Gujarat. During
school days he was an athlete and won prizes in
100 meter race.
He is married to Lizelle, an Anglo Indian from Mumbai. Lizelle is a
costume designer who designed costumes for many Television shows.
They have two sons, Druv and Gabriel. Currently he is residing at
Andheri West, Mumbai with family. He has done choreography for more
than 100 movies and he has been a part of multiple television shows
which are related to dance. His latest movie ABCD 2 which is a sequel to
his previous hit ABCD is gearing up for a massive release on June 19th
all over. The recently released theatrical trailer and video songs have
been receiving exceptional response from the audience. Hope he will
score a massive hit with ABCD 2.
