Achievements 2011 – 2012 Our Mission To promote the development and support of the voluntary and community sector in and around the London Borough of Hillingdon; support and develop links between the statutory and voluntary sector; act as a focal point and provide a forum for the voluntary and community sector. HAVS secured funding and provided practical help, advice and information to help organisations sustain their services on behalf of local residents. Among our achievements we: • Won funding from central government’s Transforming Local Infrastructure fund for ‘Collaborating for Change’ (C4C) projects – see panel below. • Won funding from LB Hounslow to provide Funding and Development Advice Services for small groups (in Hounslow). • Won funding for, and delivered, Digital TV Switchover support services for Hillingdon and Harrow. • Represented the voluntary and community sector on statutory partnerships including Hillingdon Partners (LSP). • Co-chaired the Voluntary Sector Health and Social Care Forum. • Sourced more than £400,000 for Hillingdon’s voluntary and community sector. • Helped 54 small groups with funding and in-depth organisational and project development support. • Reviewed the Children, Youth and Families Network resulting in more information being shared by e-circulation. • Met 29 requests from organisations working with children, youth and families for development support and advice on safeguarding children. • Ran three safeguarding courses, including one 'in-house' for a voluntary and community group. • Worked with statutory partners to increase their understanding of the voluntary and community sector as well as opportunities for joint working and information exchanges. • Provided an e-news service, posting around 1,000 items on-line - for example about ICT, funding and safeguarding - helping to keep voluntary and community organisations informed. • Provided payroll services to 20 organisations; bookkeeping services to two more and helped another to set up a computerised accounting system. • Managed Key House Trust’s accounts in addition to HAVS’ own. • Advised, supported and referred 2,863 Hillingdon residents into a range of volunteering opportunities with local voluntary, community and not-for-profit organisations helping them to provide essential services to local residents. • Developed 121 new volunteer opportunities in partnership with voluntary and community organisations. • Provided volunteer management advice, good practice guidance, training and support to more than 60 organisations. • Staged the Hillingdon Volunteer Awards 2011 in partnership with four local bodies, recognising the efforts of more than 100 nominated volunteers and raising the profile of volunteering locally.
