Helo!MynameisKara
and I'd love to be your newborn
photographer. I know there are lots of us
out there -- people who photograph sweet little
cherubs and baby bumps -- and so many do a great job.
As a mother myself, though, and as someone who's so passionate about
photography that I've dedicated my life to perfecting the art, I can't help
but want to capture more tiny toes, button noses and sweet smiles.
More about me being a mom: I've got two children of my own. Mikayla, who's
five years old now (the time sure does fly) and Addie, who is two. Both keep
me busy, but boy do I love them. Plus, they give me lots of time to practice
my art!
Whether you're a brand new mommy, someone who's been in the game for a few
years (like me) or you have yet to give birth to your precious bun, one fact
remains true: photographs of your children are so important. Not just
because they grow and change so fast, but because they last forever and
because your loved ones want to stay in the know!
I capture it all, too. Maternity photos, newborn photos, milestone
photography, sibling pictures and beyond. All those moments and details?
They're absolutely worth preserving. I'll fill you in on the details of what
I offer in the pages to come. Right now, though, I want to tell you a little
bit more about myself. So for the next two to three minutes, cozy up and
continue reading. Maybe make yourself a nice cup of hot tea?
In addition to being a mother to two rambunctious, but lovable, kiddos, I've
also got a wonderful husband who's my number one fan and my rock. I couldn't
do all this without him, that's for sure. Together we look after our two
babes and make every effort to give them wonderful lives. Our favorite
family activities include coloring (outside the lines, of course), taking
long walks in the woods (complete with slimey worms and dirt) and visiting
zoos all around us.
Photography is my life. I love photographing brand new babies. The love in a
Photography is my life. I love photographing brand new babies. The love in a
new parent’s eyes is so raw and emotional that it creates the best
photographs to cherish forever. It is my passion to capture that love you
feel so that you’ll never miss that moment.

I know I've already said it, but I'll repeat
myself. I absolutely love photographing
newborns!
I mean, can we all collectively agree that
newborns are, like, the cutest things on the
planet?
I always suggest getting newborn photographs
within the first two weeks of your child's
birth. I know that's a hectic time for new
parents, but hear me out. Those early days
are life changing for everyone involved. By
scheduling your newborn session early on
(even within the first three days of birth),
I'm there to capture all the feelings and
emotions you and your baby are going through.
Babies also change a lot - even within the
first few weeks. Getting your newborn
photographs as soon as possible ensures we
capture that "newborn look" and all those
moments.
On your session day, we'll capture
photographsofjustyournewborn(andallhis
or her adorable features) and also images of
you and your partner with your newborn. We
may even have time to get images of any
siblings!
NEWBORN SESSION PREPGUIDE
Some useful tips before your session!
As soon as you get to the
studio we’ll get baby fed so
they are nice and full and
hopefully get into a deep
sleep.Ifyouarebreastfeeding
and are comfortable with
bringing spare milk in bottles
I will gladly feed and change
your baby, I love doing it!
Try to keep baby awake 1-2 hours before session time so they’ll
be nice and sleepy. I know it’s hard with how exhausted you are
to keep that little one awake and engaged but a bath always
helps!
Please bring a pacifier to your
session. Even if you’re not
planning on using one
permanently, it is often
convenient during pictures to
keep your little one calm and
soothed for the 2-3 hours of
shooting.
It’s best to dress your little one in a button-up or zip-up
sleeper,preferablyaloosefittingone(toavoidclothinglines
on baby’s skin) nothing that will have to be removed over baby’s
head as that can disturb them if baby is already sleeping when
you get to the studio.
Inordertokeepbabyinadeep
sleep, I keep the studio very
warm (around 81 degrees).
Please wear comfortable
clothes and layers in case you
get too hot. I will have
bottles of water available to
you and you are always welcome
to bring snacks.
Newborn sessions are LONG. Sometimes if baby is very very sleepy
we can be done in a shorter time but sessions can take up to 4
hours. Please bring a book, laptop, or whatever you need to keep
yourself busy.
Most important thing to remember is that baby’s run the show!
Your baby will ultimately dictate on how the session will run.
If he or she is fussy, it is important not to react to it and
stressbecausethebabywillpickuponthisandwillbecomemore
agitated. Simply sit and calmly allow me to work with your baby.
I have plenty of experience and infinite patience, so know that
everything will be fine.
