undergraduate senior & awards dinner<br />

Senior Class.<br />

The <strong>Chemistry</strong> <strong>Department</strong> held its tenth annual<br />

Senior and Awards Dinner at the Murray D. Lincoln<br />

Campus Center on the UMass Amherst campus on<br />

Tuesday, May 13, 2008. More than 100 students,<br />

parents, faculty and staff attended the event<br />

that recognizes those undergraduates who have<br />

distinguished themselves in the pursuit <strong>of</strong> academic<br />

excellence. The program included a welcome by<br />

<strong>Department</strong> Head Bret E. Jackson, the introduction<br />

<strong>of</strong> 26 graduating seniors by Undergraduate<br />

Program Director Paul M. Lahti, a buffet dinner,<br />

and the award presentations. Over 40 deserving<br />

students received awards, certificates, honors and<br />

scholarships. All award winners were guests <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>Chemistry</strong> <strong>Department</strong> and graduating senior<br />

chemistry majors received door prizes consisting<br />

<strong>of</strong> cups, pens, paper pads, and other departmental<br />

mementoes. Marie Whalen, Undergraduate Program<br />

Manager, organized the evening’s activities, and<br />

Lisa Korpiewski, departmental Graphics Designer,<br />

providing the creative talents, designed the program<br />

and made the certificates and door prizes given<br />

to individual students. Additional information<br />
