For the most accurate fit, you should wear the jeans and boots you plan to wear while riding. Chaps fit best over snug fitting jeans. To reduce gaps, bunching or pinching, chaps should also fit somewhat snug. They should not be loose or baggy in the thigh area, but still be comfortable and allow for easy movement. To fit the length, be sure you are wearing riding boots. Chaps should be long enough to just reach the boot heel when sitting. Mark the chaps at the correct length; then, using a sharp scissors, cut to length. Since leather does not fray, they do not need to be hemmed. Choosing the Correct Chap Length Chap inseams run about 2" shorter than standard pant inseams. Plus, chaps are also cuttable up to 6" for a truly custom fit. So, a 34" pant inseam would require a Regular length chap with ability to further customize the length by cutting the hem.
