Germanna Community College Sign Language Interpreter Services IFB #11-1207 P a g e | 3 I. PURPOSE: The purpose and intent of this solicitation is to establish a contract with up to two (2) qualified sources to facilitate the coordination of interpreting services for Germanna Community College, herein referred to as the College or GCC. To facilitate the coordination of such services, the contractor shall verify the credentials, background, and experience of qualified interpreters before entering into an agreement with the qualified interpreters. The work may be performed at all 4 locations. CONTRACT PERIOD: This contract shall be for a period of two (2) years with the option to renew for (3) additional one (1) year periods III. SCOPE OF WORK: CONTRACTOR GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: A. The Contractor, at a minimum shall provide interpreters who are proficient in American Sign Language with the ability to develop sign for specialized curriculum to include complex medical and technical terms for deaf/hearing-impaired students at GCC. This service shall be provided for both classroom time and outside of class time (to meet with faculty, advisors, tutors and any other college faculty/staff as needed outside of regularly scheduled classes and other student related activities) during the academic year. Work will be assigned through the Office of Disability Support Services for all locations. B. The Contractor shall provide interpreter(s) who have extensive experience with deaf/hearing impaired students for which American Sign Language is the primary method of communication. C. The Contractor shall provide qualified interpreters who demonstrate proficiency in language
