Response From Illinois
I mean you no disrespect when I
state the following cornments: I am
new to USPSA, and you are not the first
person I have personally heard uttering
these statements regarding Illinois. 1 assume
you do not live in Illinois. If this
is a fact, then you have neither the
room nor the knowledge to make such
biased comments regarding our state.
Yes, we are a state that is very, very antigun,
but you need to know the demography.
Illinois really has a state in a
state, the internal state being that of the
Chicago metropolitan area. Here you
have a media-brainwashed mentality
regarding gun ownership. Go south of
Chicago, past 1-80, and attitudes begin
to change. The further south you go,
the better the attitude gets. You must
also know that a large portion of our
population is from north of 1-80. This
slants the state representation on both
the state and federal levels of government.
What you don't seem to know or
understand is that there are several
hundred thousand gun owners in Illinois,
if not more. I don't have the figures.
Many of them are NRA members.
If it were not for us, nobody would currently
own guns in our state. (That is
my own personal belief.)
think it is wrong that you advocate
punishing all the people of the
state of Illinois because of our political
climate. I feel the hard-working volunteer
members of USPSA deserve better
than that.
As for not attending the 1999
Open, your reasons are your own, but
please keep them to yourself. You are
only doing USPSA and its members a
disservice. As far as keeping your
money out of Illinois, please do not
buy any of the following brands: Bull-
X, Springfield, Winchester, Vithavuori
powders (distributed from Illinois),
any food products with a corn or soybean
base. You can't be too sure where

If I raised my children with your attitude,
then we might as well turn all
our guns in for gym shoes and video
games tomorrow. You are helping the
anti-gunners divide us all, not to mention
that train of thought is a poisonous
contagion.

Thanks For The Contributions
I am ending a 12 month mission on
an International Police Task Force in
the Balkans. I was assigned as an Advisor
for the Bosnia and Herzegovina
Canton Police Anti-Terrorism Support
Units of Gorazade and Sarajevo. As a
member of USPSA I would like to take
this opportunity to express a sincere
thank you to Dave Dawson of Dawson
Precision, Safariland Inc. and Bill
Rogers of Rogers Shooting School for
their contributions of needed equipment.
Their contributions left a
tremendous influence on the police officers
and showed how United States
police officers are supported back
home. Thank you.

Unfair Major Power Factor
I'm a former USPSA member. I've
been out of IPSC for about two years.
I'm currently shooting IDPA matches.
Although I do miss the high round
count and wild and crazy courses of
fire of IPSC, one of the things I don't
miss is the ridiculously unfair major
power factor in the Limited Division.
This power factor keeps 9x19 and .38
Super stock gun shooters from participating
at a competitive level.
