or the sixth consecutive year,
Kay and Jerry Miculek hosted
a ladies-only handgun camp at
their home range in Princeton,
La. Thirty-four campers joined seven
female instructors, led by Kay Miculek,
USPSA National and World Champion.
As is typical with these shooting
camps, the women came from all backgrounds
and experience levels - from
never having handled a firearm, to
those who compete regularly. The
campers came from as far away as Virginia,
New Jersey, California, Arizona,
Florida, Michigan, and Canada as well
as the neighboring states.
Other instructors included Lisa
Munson, nine-time USPSA Limited
Champion (Washington); Judy Woolley,
former Team S&W member (Montana);
Sheila Brey, first woman Mastet
class shooter (New York); Annette Aysen,
Team S&W member and revolver
champion (Louisiana); Cindy Noyes,
Glock GSSF Coordinator (Georgia);
and Sheila Hoekstra, a former camper
and women's shooting activity director
(Michigan).
On The Range:
To kick off the event campers gathered
for a safety briefing, equipment
distribution, and cabin assignments at
Lake Bistineau State Park. Following
the safety briefing, everyone sat down
to dinner at what has become known as
the 'hen house' - the classroom/
bunkhouse at the Shootout Range. As

darkness fell, the campers returned to
the cabins at Lake Bistineau and settled
in for the night.
The next morning, a fast-moving
weather cell was predicted to drop
