14. HPCD4'
A four-foot harpsichord voice.
Yes, the sound of a 4’
harpsichord “disposition” is
different from an 8’ disposition, as
you will soon discover. Most
Harpsichord patches do not
account for this, and you end up
with a jingley-jangley metal sound
as a compromise. This patch is
specifically designed to model a 4’
Harpsichord for classical and pop
situations.
The MODWHEEL can be used in
more than one way for this patch
(see MOD WHEEL feature box). It
should be noted that delicate
application will simulate the way a
real harpsichord loses its tuning
after it is moved from one location
to another.
EXTRA: Listen for that final
light pluck as you release the keys.
Real Harpsichords have it, and it's
part of this sound as well! *
Mod Wheel
MODWHEEL adds detuning. Even at full-wheel it will
not go out of tune, just give a nice detuning effect.
Keyboard Modulation
KEYBOARD determines stereo position.
* Trivia Tidbit: Both the ESQ-1 and SQ-80 transmit MIDI release
velocity! — Now go find a receiving device that uses it!
