Triple S Science Fair
Kent Street Senior High School
The first Triple S Science Fair for 2007 was held on
Tuesday 22nd May at Kent Street Senior High School.
The fair was very successful and attended by over 500
interested students, parents and teachers on a beautiful
clear night in May.
Numerous interactive displays kept both the public and
the stall holders busy all night. Many of the regular stall
holders returned and we were thrilled to welcome several
new ones. Some of the stalls included: Scitech roadshow;
building parachutes for eggs; finding stars and planets in
the sky with Skyscout; snake skins and other specimens
from the WA Museum, as well as the ever popular
RAAF/2FTS strapping students into an ejector seat.
The Faculty and ECU were represented by a small group
of enthusiastic stall holders. Special thanks go to:

Tanya Barrett and her troupe of Occupational Therapy
students who tested our grip strength and let us
go for a spin in their wheelchair. Thank you to Tara
Metcalfe, Tyvella Scott, Kelly McCauliffe and Lauren
Hepburn.
Thomas Beebe for his Chemistry expertise; Rebekah
Kenna and Rob Campbell for their mussel clump
activity as part of a combined Natural Sciences stall.
Nardia Bordas for her Science in Nursing display with
simulated body fat and the smoking doll.
Professor Mo Harris and her birthing simulator -
many teenage girls were impressed, or should I say
“shocked” by the experience.
The second Triple S Science fair for 2007 is scheduled for
Wednesday 26 th September and will be held at
St Stephen’s School, Duncraig.
