Appropriate Parent Expectations of the SchoolWith regard to The Life of the Mind, the School will strive to:• provide knowledgeable, enthusiastic, talented faculty toteach a challenging, college-preparatory curriculum;• implement a program that goes beyond academics to nurturethe emotional, artistic, athletic and creative capacities ofeach student;• hold students to high standards while providing them withsupport as they face the challenges and difficulties oflearning and development; and• foster the life of the mind in a manner that respects andencourages intellectual diversity and divergent points ofview.With regard to Mature Behavior, the School’s faculty, staff and administratorswill strive to:• act in a trustworthy, professional manner towards studentsand parents;• hold students to a high standard of ethical behavior andprovide appropriate discipline when such standards areviolated;• provide students with well-trained and enthusiasticcounselors and advisors who will help them develop anappreciation of the importance of balance, limits and selfdisciplinein their lives; and• promote behavior in and outside of school that reflects ageappropriatematurity.With regard to Mutual Respect, the School will strive to:• teach respect and require appropriate behavior among students, betweenstudents and teachers and among adults in the larger community;• communicate clearly to parents and students the School’spolicies on academics, athletics, behavior, student health andsafety, and provide clear, timely and honest informationabout their children in an atmosphere of care and concernfor the welfare of students;2
