Aims & Objects• Develop an integrated physical environment in whichvarious professions and institutions dealing with differentfacets of habitat and habitat related environmental issueswould function, interact and attempt to resolve habitatrelated problems in a coordinated manner.• Promote awareness in regard to habitat relatedenvironmental issues including water, air, noise and wastepollution, energy and its conservation, water and humanwaste management and other such matters.• Promote better urban and rural settlements relevant tothe <strong>India</strong>n social, cultural, and economic context andrelated to the lifestyle of its people.• Cooperate and collaborate with other national andinternational institutions in furtherance of the objectivesof the <strong>Centre</strong>.• Acquire, hold, improve and develop lands and constructbuildings and related facilities on behalf of members ofthe <strong>Centre</strong>.• Organise and maintain residential hostels, restaurantsand other amenities for its members, their guests andnon-members invited by the <strong>Centre</strong>.• Maintain and keep in good repair all buildings andcommon services.• Inculcate better awareness and sensitivity in regardto all aspects of creative human activity including thesignificance of art in habitat.• Constitute or cause to be constituted Regional <strong>Centre</strong>sat convenient places to promote the objectives ofthe <strong>Centre</strong>.• Document all relevant information pertaining to habitat,human settlements and environmental issues.• Advise and if needed, assist the Government in theformation and implementation of policies relating tohabitat, and human settlements.• Do all such other lawful activities as the <strong>Centre</strong> considersconducive to the attainment of all or any of theabove objectives.• Promote education, research, training and professionaldevelopment on habitat and human settlement andenvironment related issues.• Organise and promote conferences, seminars, lectures,public debates and exhibitions in matters relating tohabitat, human settlement and environment.• Offer awards, prizes, scholarships and stipends infurtherance of the objectives of the <strong>Centre</strong>.3
