As a former Boston inhabitant, she finds theriver valley offers a rare natural beauty. In inclementmonths, hand weaving in silk, wool, cotton or linen is anenjoyable pastime. But occasionally, she’ll step out for anadventure in faraway places like Peru, Egypt, or Sweden.Professionally, she specializes in customer research for thehealth insurance industry.Harry Spring has been an Avon Resident since 1974. He is a retired teacher ofBiology, Earth Science and Chemistry at Hartford Public High School. He has beena member and chair of the Avon Natural Resources Commission, served on theAvon Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, was an Avon delegate toand subsequently chair of the Hartford County Association of Conservation andInland WetlandsCommissions, a member ofthe Avon Land Trust whichhe served as a member of itsBoard of Directors and asVice-president for severalyears. He was also a memberof the Fisher MeadowsBuilding Committee and adelegate from the Avon LandTrust to the <strong>Farmington</strong> <strong>River</strong>Watershed Association’sOpen Space Consortium.More recently he has served atthe Waterfowl Sanctuary in <strong>Farmington</strong> as a docentand in its Incubator in the Classroom Program.www.lowerfarmingtonriver.org / www.salmonbrookwildandscenic.org
