Re-Living 2007Events & ActivitiesTaking a walk down the memory lane, 2007 had indeedbeen an exciting year filled with memorable moments. Overthe past one year, we have successfully organized variousevents and activities for our members and their families.So let us reminisce the great times we had together.Prosperity NiteMesra RayaCountdown 08Apart from the festive eventssuch as the Prosperity Nite,Mesra Raya, Deepavali Niteand the New Year Countdown,which celebrates the variousfestivals, there were manyother events and activitiesthat were organized for thefirst time last year.Amongst them, we had theFamily Cohesion cum Fun Runheld at Pasir Ris in March 07.More than 200 members andtheir families took part in theevent to engage in their morningexercise as well as enjoying thefun and exciting activities atEscape Theme Park.In May 2007, we collaboratedwith theNational Cadet Corpfor a 1-Day AdventureProgram. The mainobjective for thisevent is to promoteteamwork and leadershipskills among ourfuture elites. Most of 1-Day Adventure Program at NCCthe teens had enjoyedthemselves in the outdoor activities such as flying fox, rockclimbing and the paintball challenge.The 2D1N Children Camp held in December at the Clubhousewas also a successful one. The children were trainedon survival skills in a fun and educational way, with teamworkand leadership skills being the main emphasis. Theywere also taught how to pitch their own tents and all in alla taste of the “life” asa soldier.2D1N ChildrenIn September 07, weconducted our veryfirst round island Adventureon Wheels.Approximately 100members and theirfamilies partici-pated in this event. Mostof them had a wonderfultime driving around Singapore,hunting for cluesat historical places suchas Kranji War Memorial,Labrador Park and JohorBattery.Last year, we had also injectedin some activitiesAdventure on Wheelsfor various interest groups. Activity such as the Hands-onBaking Workshop waswell received by thebaking enthusiasts.Others include JewelleryMaking, Floral Arrangement,Nail IndulgenceWorkshop etc.The popular workshophave garnered manyregulars.Baking WorkshopMt Ophir TripBesides the above events held locally, The Club also organizedoverseas activities like the Malacca Golf Cohesionand Mount Ophir Trip.The Annual General Meeting, Veterans’Nite and Mothers’ Day LunchFeast were amongst some of the annualevents organized by the Clubthroughout the year.Veterans’ NiteMalacca Golf CohesionMothers’ Day LunchFeast at Carlton Hotel33rd AGMAll these would not have happened without your participationand support.2008 will definitely be another eventful year for us, with manymore fun and exciting activities lined up just for you. Re-Living 2007Facilities & ServicesMoving on from the series of exciting activities, 2007 alsosaw many of the Club’s facilities being upgraded.AVIARY KTVLOUNGEThe Aviary KTV Loungewhich is a popular hangoutfor our members wasone of the areas designatedfor enhancementover the last 12 months.The Seagull, Kingfisher,Albatross KTV roomswere renovated consecutively with new furniture, soundsystem and LCD TV in each room. Continuous efforts willbe made to upgrade the remaining rooms over the next 2years. In addition, the sofas in the main KTV hall were reupholsteredand a new 42” LCD TV was added.SAVANNAH & RAINFOREST LOUNGE‘Live Band’ performance was introduced at the SavannahLounge every Saturdaynights. Due to the ravingresponse received fromour members, the Clubhas extended its contractwith the current band,‘Angel Notes’ to performon Thursday and Fridayas well starting January2008. Additional units ofLCD TVs were also added at both Rainforest and Savannahfor the viewing comfort of our members.CHEVRONSBALLROOMIn August, our Ballroom,host to numerousbanquets, andseminars, was re-carpeted.The changegave the room an addedtouch of elegance.New speakers werealso brought in and projectors and motorized screens wereadded.THE MINTBetter known as thejackpot room, The Mintwas re-carpeted and aR&R (Rest & Relax) cornerwith light refreshmentswas setup for memberswho wish to take a shortbreak in between their play.TROPICALPAVILIONThe constructionof the Tropical Pavilion,a new outdoorBBQ facilitywas completed inAugust. Locatedamidst of the lushgreenery in theTropical Garden,the facility is idealfor members’ unit cohesions, personal get-together or evenwedding solemnization.Besides the above new and enhanced facilities, the Club notedto our members’ feedback and suggestions, and added thefollowing services onto our list.ATOS WELLNESSIn response to themembers’ feedback forspa facilities, the Clubmanaged to secure a leasewith the ATOS Wellnessand Spa which openedits door officially in Aprilproviding a full rangeof beauty, wellness andslimming servicesThe centre also took overthe operation of the Gymand CHEVRONS memberswere accorded specialdiscounts off the rack ratesof the services provided by the wellness centre.D&G e-MARTIn July, e-Mart wasintroduced at theD&G Marketingwhich offers a widerange of militarysundries and knickknacksrequiredby our members.This service hasreceived very positivefeedback frommembers.
