Guideline for Student Email and FAQsLive@EDU Upgrade to Office365 – Universiti Teknologi MARAMicrosoft required all Live@EDU schools to upgrade from Live@EDU to Office365. We implemented thischange at Universiti Teknologi MARA between June 24, 2013 and July 5, 2013. This mandatory upgradeseparated school email accounts from Microsoft Live accounts. See below for more details on how theupgrade has affected you.Student email account informationThe login page now contains a separate links for Students. If you used to use a different web pageaddress to access your email, it likely no longer works. Please usehttp://www.outlook.com/isiswa.uitm.edu.my to access your email account directly.Your email address (for example, 2004638634@isiswa.uitm.edu.my), mailbox contents, webmaillogin URL (http://www.outlook.com/isiswa.uitm.edu.my), email software settings, and the fact thatyou use your student email account credentials to log on all remained unchanged.The default webmail theme changed, the upper left Universiti Teknologi MARA logo changed to aMicrosoft Office 365 logo, and the SkyDrive link at the top is no longer be available while viewingyour mailbox.Mailbox quota size increased from 7GB.See below for information regarding your SkyDrive, if you wish to still use it.Microsoft Live and SkyDrive information You now have two completely separate accounts:o Your student email account (for example, 2004638634@isiswa.uitm.edu.my), which is accessibleat http://www.outlook.com/isiswa.uitm.edu.my/.o Your personal Microsoft Live account, used to access SkyDrive and Messenger athttps://skydrive.live.com/, which is now administered completely by Microsoft. Your MicrosoftLive ID continues to be @isiswa.uitm.edu.my (for example, 2004638634@isiswa.uitm.edu.my),and your Microsoft Live ID password will remain unchanged. When you change your email account password now, it does not affect your Microsoft Liveaccount’s password and vice versa. Please note that brand new students, first created after July 8, 2013, you will no longer receive aMicrosoft Live account nor a SkyDrive, but you can still choose to sign up for a free personalMicrosoft Live account through Microsoft if you wish. Guideline for Student Email and FAQsFAQsThe following are frequently asked questions regarding Universiti Teknologi MARA's migrationto Office 365 for student email:1. What is Office 365? Office 365 is a cloud-based set of products including desktopapplications (Microsoft Office suite) and server products (including Exchange e-mail,SharePoint collaboration, and Lync instant messaging). For now, only the Exchange e-mailwill be implemented at Universiti Teknologi MARA.2. What does "cloud-based" and "in the cloud" mean? Cloud computing, or being "in thecloud," means that a third-party (in this case, Microsoft) provides the applications via theInternet and stores the data on their servers.3. Is my information safe "in the cloud"? Multiple copies of your data are stored forredundancy purposes. The data is encrypted when accessed from the server. The endresult is an online service that has the equivalent reliability and security as an on-campusserver.4. Are all Universiti Teknologi MARA campuses moving to the same system? All campusesare moving to the Office 365.5. Is a different password required to open the email account in Outlook and the Office 365web client? No.6. When sending an attachment, does the file size increase? Yes, attaching a file will increasethe size of the message. Messages are limited to 25 MB, including the message text andthe sum of all attachments. Files can expand by up to 30% when sent.7. Can you run two email accounts at the same time in Outlook? Yes, in Outlook, multipleaccounts can easily be setup and they can be accessed simultaneously.8. What are the software requirements for Office 365? Your computer must meet thesoftware requirements recommended by Microsoft.
