BIM in the EUEU Considers following UK and Dutchleadership by introducing BIMinto public construction projectsMalcolm Harbour MEP,championed theintroduction of the BIMamendmentsinto the Directive.On 18th December 2012 the EU voted to table a setof proposals as part of the reviewof the existing EU Public Procurement Directivewhich will encourage the progressiveuse of building information modelling (‘BIM’) in publicworks contracts across member states.The proposed use of BIM in public works largelyechoes current UK policy while not imposingstrict implementation requirements on nationallegislation.The review of the EU Public Procurement Directivehas several key stages before it is agreed aslegislation in early summer 2013 by all EU states.
