Ihave lived in Puerto Princesa City all my life and I have seen it growfrom a backwater city to the prime tourist location it is now. I always goto the Underground River. Now, that it was declared one of the “New 7Wonders”, many tourists are rushing to the city. Our Underground Riverand its surroundings are the home to numerous species of marine, landand forest animals. It has one of the richest tree floras in Asia and is ahome to endemic birds. It also provides a habitat for numerous speciesof mammals and reptiles. However, tourists might disturb their naturalhabitat; hence ways should be found and encouraged wherein theenvironment will be sustained as well as the tourism industry. I’d liketo be part of looking for ways to preserve and conserve, not only ourUnderground River, but the whole city in which it is located. I believe it isour responsibility to take care of our natural resources, both for us and thefuture generations.
