orn to be the king of the Jews? We saw Hisstar in the east. We came to worship Him.’“When King Herod heard about thisnew king of the Jews, he was troubled. Andall the people in Jerusalem were worriedtoo. Herod called a meeting of all theleading priests and teachers of the law.He asked them where the Christ wouldbe born. They answered, ‘In the town ofBethlehem in Judea’” (Matthew 2:2-5, ICB).Herod sent the wise men toBethlehem, saying, “‘Go and look carefullyto find the child. When you find him, cometell me. Then I can go worship him too.’“The wise men heard the king andthen left. They saw the same star they hadseen in the east. It went before them until itstopped above the place where the childwas. When the wise men saw the star, theywere filled with joy. They went to the housewhere the child was and saw him withhis mother, Mary. They bowed down andworshiped the child. They opened their giftsthey brought him. They gave him treasuresof gold, frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew2:8-11, ICB).The wise men gave Jesus the mostprecious things they had. We should followtheir example and give to Jesus the best ofall we have—of our time, money, and love.Adapted fromThe Story of JesusArtwork byEllen White Visionary for Kids | 7
