When we arrived at White Point at the old Rachal home, wefound Mr. Chrys Rachal Sr. there in front of the little schoolhouse,and he had ordered some of the laborers to butcher andbarbecue a calf as people were coming to help on horsebackand on foot. These had already begun to bring bodies to theschool-house on house doors…..We worked checking foridentification, checking for jewelry, scars, teeth or anythingthat would help to identify. Mr. Rachal was having a longgrave dug by mules and scrapers that happened to be there onaccount of the oil company using them to make slush pits.There were thirty two survivors who had no clothes. Hewrapped them in whatever he had and put them in two wagonsdrawn by four mule teams each and sent them to Taft.
