Biogas as vehicle fuelSwedish Gas Centre: Basic Data on BiogasDue to the dependency of fossil fuels in the Swedish transport sector,utilisation of biogas as vehicle fuel has gained large interest during the lastfew years. Today, it is a mixture of natural gas and biogas that is sold asvehicle fuel of which biogas comprised 62% by volume in 2011. Both thebiogas volume used for vehicle fuel as well as the number of vehicles thatare able to use biogas as a vehicle fuel has increased during the last fewyears.Except for in the Otto engines, biogas can also be used in Dual-Fuel engines.In Dual-Fuel engines, the biogas can be used in combination with diesel as avehicle fuel and maintain the high efficiency of the diesel engine. Thepercentage of biogas can be as high as 90% .Milj.
