This course presents anupdated overview of clinical ophthalmology by the full-time clinical facultyof the Department of Ophthalmology, emphasizing “state-of-the-art”management and recent “ahead-of-the-art” developments.Using lectures, slide and video presentations, panel discussions, and theconference syllabus, the course reviews approaches to the diagnosis andtherapy of ocular disorders. By explaining the pathogenesis of common eyedisorders, the objectives of this course are to show participants how toutilize new diagnostic techniques. New topics are presented annually basedon previous participants’ evaluation recommendations.At the conclusion of the activity, the participant should be able to:•Explain the pathogenesis of common eye disorders•Demonstrate how to utilize new diagnostic techniques•Develop an effective management strategy for specific ocular diseases•Evaluate new surgical techniques in ophthalmologyLectures; Syllabus; Question and Answer SessionsOphthalmologists and ophthalmologists-in-trainingEvaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation,and possible bias.Accreditation/CreditDesignationBaylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council forContinuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical educationfor physicians.Baylor College of Medicine designates this educational activity for amaximum of 12.0 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’sRecognition Award.
