StUdent PerformancesIn 2014, the <strong>Teatro</strong> <strong>Colón</strong> Golden Hall, together with other city venues, such as the<strong>Teatro</strong> del Globo and the Colegio de Graduados en Ciencias Económicas (EconomicsGraduates Association), will host performances by the students of the Institute’s manyDegree Courses. These performances will include chamber ensembles, soloist andvocal ensemble concerts, ballet recitals by the Dance Degree Course students andperforming practice shows by the Lyrical Singing Degree Course students.Academic OrchestraMade up by students of the Orchestral Academy Degree Course, the Academic Orchestrawill launch a 2014 policy to gradually increase the number of its members, starting withthe strings, to broaden the possibility of widening their repertoire. The Orchestra willoffer its usual cycle of monthly concerts on Thursdays at 5:00 pm in the <strong>Teatro</strong> <strong>Colón</strong>Main Hall, featuring prestigious conductors and soloists.In May, the Academic Orchestra will take part in an Orchestra Conduction Seminarlectured by the Institute’s Director, Guillermo Scarabino, a senior professor at the NationalUniversity of La Plata and the Argentine Catholic University.In August, two British specialists on instrumental pedagogy will visit our Orchestra—Oliver Butterworth (strings) and Julia Munn (winds). Both specialists will engage inan intense week of classes and training, developing a programme that will be performedin public as a closing ceremony to the whole experience. The visit of first-classorchestras to Buenos Aires allows their qualified soloists to give master classes to theOrchestral Academy students and auditing students, as was the case in 2013 with theSimón Bolívar Orchestra (Caracas), Concertgebouw Orchestra (Amsterdam), and IsraelPhilharmonic Orchestra. The same is expected for 2014, with members of otherorchestras performing in the city.<strong>Opera</strong> ProductionA comprehensive performance combining all six ISATC Degree Courses (OrchestralAcademy, Lyrical Singing, Portrayal, Dance, Stage Direction for <strong>Opera</strong>, and MusicalPreparation for <strong>Opera</strong>) is scheduled for December 6 th , 7 th , 13 th , and 14 th at the <strong>Teatro</strong> 25de Mayo. Two operas by Gian Carlo Menotti will be staged–Amahl and the Night Visitorsand The Telephone, with teachers and students active and extensively participating intheir production.Institutional ActionIn 2013, the ISATC initiated the processing of pending documentation before theGovernment of the City of Buenos Aires to obtain the recognition and validity of itsacademic degrees, so that its graduates can teach Arts in different jurisdictions.Closing this pending issue for 2014 constitutes an institutional priority.79
