Guidelines for <strong>Entrance</strong> <strong>Test</strong>i. The c<strong>and</strong>idates must apply through the Research Centre where he/she want to carry out his/her research work. Theapplicant will be considered only for the centre through which the application has been forwarded. In exceptionalcases, the Director FRI may consider the change of research centre subject to availability of the vacancy.ii.iii.iv.The question paper will have following sections <strong>and</strong> their proportional weightage may be as follows:Section-AGeneral Awareness:: 25 questionsGeneral English:: 25 questionsResearch Aptitude:: 30 questions (The questions will be based on reasoning & Statistics)Section-B*Basic & Applied Sciences :120 questions ( attempt any two sections)*(There will be 60 questions in each section of Section-B. The questions will be based on Forestry, Agriculture,Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, <strong>Ph</strong>ysics, Wood Science & technology <strong>and</strong> Mathematics. Thesyllabus is available on the website)The minimum qualifying marks in entrance examination is 50% for general/OBC c<strong>and</strong>idates <strong>and</strong> 45% for the SC/STc<strong>and</strong>idates.The c<strong>and</strong>idates who have qualified UGC/CSIR (JRF) Examination / GATE/NET will be allowed to appear for theinterview directly without appearing in the written entrance test. However such c<strong>and</strong>idates will have to apply as perthe procedure alongwith other c<strong>and</strong>idates. They will have to give a proof of having qualified above exams along withtheir application form. The UGC/CSIR/GATE/NET exam should have been cleared by the applicant during previoustwo years from the last date of submission of the form in the University.v. The c<strong>and</strong>idates qualifying the entrance test will be called for interview which will be conducted Discipline- wise bythe Member Secretary RACs/Nodal Officers of Research centres. The list of c<strong>and</strong>idates qualified in the interview willbe sent to the Registrar, FRI Deemed University, who will compile the list of qualified c<strong>and</strong>idates <strong>and</strong> will obtain theapproval of the Director before finally declaring the result.vi.vii.viii.The list of successful c<strong>and</strong>idates prepared by Registrar FRI Deemed University <strong>and</strong> shall be sent to all the researchcentres <strong>and</strong> will be displayed on the website.The successful c<strong>and</strong>idates shall be directed to report to the Registrar FRI Deemed University/Nodal Officers ofresearch centres concerned for compulsory course work of six months duration as per <strong>Ph</strong>.D. Ordinance.On successful completion of the course work the c<strong>and</strong>idates shall prepare the synopsis of their research plan <strong>and</strong>present before Research Advisory Committee concerned for approval. The Member Secretary shall conduct themeeting of the RAC for synopsis seminar <strong>and</strong> shall send the proceedings of the synopsis seminar (in Appendix-3)along with the approved synopsis (5 copies) duly signed by all the expert members of the RAC on the prescribedformat as given in Appendix-II, to the Registrar FRI Deemed University for further action.
