All-Stars.Rather, it was Florida Aquatics' "A" team, composedof Bill Sawchuk (1:38.13), John H!llencamp (1:37.07),Steve Wood (1:36.74) and Geoff Gaberino (1:36.00).Their winning time was 6:27.94, some 21/2 secondsslower than FAST's American-U.S. Open record6:25.42 from the 1979 Nationals.Second was defending champion Mission Viejo(6.29.66), while FAST "B" was 10 seconds back in third(6:39.58).Mission's Rich Saeger got the Nadadores off to a flyingstart with his 1:37.64 to FAST's Bill Sawchuk's1:38.13. Bill Barrett was next for Mission, splitting1:36.13 (second-fastest of the race) while FAST's JohnHillencamp clocked 1:37.07.After 400 yards the Nadad0res had what appeared tobe a secure advantage, 3:13.77 to 3:15.20.But Auburn's Southeastern Conference 200 freechamp, Steve Wood, who represents FAST at USS Nationals, went a swift 1:36.74 on the third leg to Mission'sStu MacDonald's 1:38.78. and Florida was now in thelead--4:51.94 to 4:52.55.An excellent 1:36.00 anchor leg by FAST's GeoffGaberino (fastest of all) was enough to secure Florida'swin as Mission's Graeme Brewer split 1:37.11.There were no other sub-l:38 splits in a race that wasbasically a two-team affair. The Nadadores earned 62points with teams finishing second, eighth and 14th.Mission's "B" team, which was originally fourth, wassubsequently disqualified. The First Swim Camps [Since 1920]CAMP AK-O-MAK IGIrl. 9-16)CAMP CHIKOPIcBoys g.1611982 Camp Dates: 6/25-8/12On a warm water lake in Canada(Six bulkhead pools)1981 U.S. Sr. National Long Rose Mary Dawson supervisesDistance Team Swim Champs workouts; racing techniques, starts, turns, stroke breakdown,These swimming authorities have sent their open water distance, intervalchildren to these camps: Dec Counsilman, training and speed work-Howard Firby, AI Schoenfield, Dave Roberfson, challenging each child's ability.John Spannuth, Ray Bussard, George Breen,Walt Schlueter, Bob Clotworthy, Jack Nelson, BillBarton, Sam Freas and George Haines,More than a doze n Olympic coaches have taught here.* A program designed by Olympic coaches for age group swimmers from 13countries,* Tri-lingual-Spanish, French and English.• 35 Olympians and 3OO All-Americans started here-SO CAN YOUIOur resident coaches Rose Mary Dawson, Bob Duenkel, ChristyBussard and Connie Corson employ a talented staff plus visiting OIymplansand coaches The swlmmers go home refreshed and eager tostart their winter program.Do you want a blg name, World-Class, success-proven, swlmcoach and program wlth one-on-one Indlvldual coachlng?ORDo you want real cabln life, ¢anoelng, salllng and many othersports wilderness camp experlence?
