CHAPTER – 3BASELINE SURVEY AND PARTICIPATORY RURAL APPRAISALParticipatory rural appraisal (PRA) is a tool to appraise the socio-economic conditions along with all kind of resources available in thewatershed through the active participation of the villagers. The PRA including house hold survey of Singar, Garhi Kargain, Jhabra, Gonti,Bhadarwara Bujurg-I, Shahpur Bujurg, Bhadarwara Bujurg-II, Bamor and Riya micro-watershed is conducted by PIA and described in thesubsequent sections.3.1. Social-Economic AnalysisIt is apparent from the social profile that the micro-watershed is inhabited by different caste and class. About 37 per cent of thepopulation is scheduled caste. Population details of the IWMP-IV are depicted in Table 3.1. In general 5 per cent population migrate from theproject area due to drought and earn more money, however, migration more than 50 per cent during 2006-07 due to continuous drought from2003 to 2007 in the district.
