4CAMPUS MINISTRY: NOTES FROM MS. LINEHAN –Theology classes will have visits from a number ofpriests from our diocese, two of whom are graduates of <strong>Charleston</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong>! On Febuary 20 th , Fr. Jamie Deviese(CCHS ‘98), Fr. Tom Gallagher (CCHS ‘02), Fr. Joshua Stevens, Fr. Carlos Melocoton and Monsignor Paul Hudokwill present on the call to the priesthood. We look forward to hearing about the priests’ discernment which broughtthem to ordination. Students will have the opportunity to share in discussion and ask questions of the priests.Ash Wednesday is February 13 th this year and marks the beginning of Lent. This liturgical season is traditionally oneof reflection on the passion of Christ as well as preparation for the Resurrection celebrated at Easter. Lent ischaracterized by three practices: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. As a community <strong>Charleston</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> will approachthese Lenten practices keeping in mind ways we can pray and serve the world in which we live.TENTATIVE CALENDAR FOR 2013-14 – Looking ahead, here is the TENTATIVE calendar for the 2013-14school year. During <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>School</strong>sWeek each winter, the PVA reaches out to the community around us and participates in acts of community service.This year we are expanding the charities included in our donations. The charities chosen are: Monday - pastaand/or sauce for Trinity's Table; Tuesday - dress down day with donation of $2 or of diapers (newborn to size 6)and/or baby formula (Similac, and Enfamil for example), for Gabriel's Project; Wednesday - coffee, 8 oz styrofoamcups, peanut butter, cereal, paper towels, or cleaning products for Sojourners; Thursday - canned meat for MannaMeal; and Friday - canned beans, peanut butter, toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, requested noconditioner), for Covenant House. All of the charities are so appreciative that we will be delivering to them andknow that the families of <strong>Charleston</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> are always so generous. It is wonderful that we can help so manycharities in our community this year.
