This work involved several initiatives tobuild the capacity of community foundations domesticallyand overseas.From 1984 to 1995, she created and implemented<strong>Mott</strong>’s Community <strong>Foundation</strong>s and NeighborhoodsSmall Grants Program. The program wasdesigned to encourage community foundations to supportemerging and established resident groups in lowincomeneighborhoods. During that time, the<strong>Foundation</strong> provided more than $6.4 million in challengegrants and technical assistance to 21 communityfoundations across the country.While at <strong>Mott</strong>, Feurt also developed and manageda series of strategic grant initiatives in historicallyblack colleges and universities, and in several otherareas.
