Faculty<strong>LAU</strong>’s recently completed strategic plan significantly raised the bar forfaculty qualifications. Out of 337 full-time faculty members, 78 percenthold doctorates or the highest degree in their field. Approximately 44percent of those degrees are from the United States; 25 percent fromWestern Europe; 8 percent from Canada, Australia and South Africa;and 23 percent from Lebanon and other Arab countries.The university’s faculty is remarkably diverse: 49 percent of instructorsare <strong>Lebanese</strong>, 37 percent are dual-nationals, and 14 percent are non-<strong>Lebanese</strong> foreigners. Forty-three percent of full-time faculty membersare women. The approximate student–faculty ratio on both campusesis 18:1 (full-time equivalents for fall 2011).StaffWith 541 full-time staff members, <strong>LAU</strong> is among the largest privateemployers in Lebanon and among the fastest-growing universitiesin the region. Staff has grown steadily over the years, with newtalent increasingly attracted to <strong>LAU</strong>’s positive work environmentand excellent employee benefits package.
