"I was always known as a bit of a rebel when I worked in the Thoroughbred industry,"
she says. "I was constantly pushing for reforms, not only for the horses but for the
stable lads and lasses too. My main focus however was always the horses. I always
believed that the horses who were at the center of this huge money-making enterprise,
whether Classic winners or Claimers, deserved more consideration and the best possible
life we could give them before, during and after their racing careers," she continues,
adding, "Of course, this is something we should achieve for all horses, not just the high
bred ones."
Upon retiring from her career as an equine photographer and returning to Texas, Vivian
decided it was time to apply her skills and life experience to championing the cause of all
horses through raising public awareness about their plight, lobbying for stronger equine
protection laws and pushing for the enforcement of existing ones.
"It is a privilege to have the opportunity to give something back in honor of all the
horses who have given so much to me," she concludes.
