Goingback wasspecially pleased with one of his oilortraits, which measured about 24y 30 inches. He was wearing a redandana and holding one of hisarvings with the Cherokee Seal inhe background. We hung both thatainting and the preliminary sketchn his home for him and Mary tonjoy. He agreed and was pleased tonow that upon his passing the twoorks would go to the Cherokee Mueumto hang as a tribute to him andoken of our friendship. After Goingback’s passing, Ieard that his possessions had beenuctioned off, but I was unable toearn where the two works ended up.would appreciate the help of theeaders of One Feather in locating theorks so that they end up in the Mueumas part of Goingback’s legacynd pursuant to his wishes. If anyone knows of the locationf this painting and/or the prelimiarypencil sketch, please contacte. Mysister, Ruth Caro, spent severalmonths there. Never have I witnessedsuch compassionate, lovingcare. Our family was treated withthe upmost respect, seeing that ourneeds were met during Ruth’s finaldays on earth, until the Angel’s carriedher home. I can’t remember allof your names but, you know whoyou are, and my deepest hope is thatGod will richly bless all of you.1st John Ch. 4 V. 18 Let us not lovein the word, neither in tongue; but indeed and truth.Thank you, once again,Joy Smith; RN(Ret.)
