Additionalevents were announced including the <strong>HL7</strong> CroatiaWorkshops ISPHER2010 “ISHEP 2010 – Interoperabilityand Standards in Healthcare – European Perspective“ inZagreb on September 16-17, 2010 (please see article onpage 15) and the <strong>HL7</strong> Asian Pacific Conference organizedby <strong>HL7</strong> Taiwan.Diego Kaminker reported on IHIC 2010 and underlinedreferences to the challenges and opportunities for <strong>HL7</strong>in developing nations as reflected in the keynote by Dr.Beatriz Leão. He also reviewed the final round table aboutnational e-health initiatives in Latin America. Please seethe full article on IHIC on page 8.The European <strong>HL7</strong> Interoperability Meeting (E-HIM)organized by <strong>HL7</strong> Spain, in Barcelona on March 17-18 attractedmore than 100 people and offered excellent presentationsby a number of <strong>HL7</strong> representatives. The secondday included a closed meeting of European affiliate boardmembers and <strong>HL7</strong> leadership that provided the opportunityto discuss European affairs and potential projects ofEuropean interest.The “<strong>HL7</strong> Around the World” session covered the lastquarter with presentations and updates for current membersof the Council as well as countries or regions withan active interest in forming an <strong>HL7</strong> affiliate. This timethere were reports from 25 countries: Argentina, Australia,Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Finland, France,Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, India,Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Russia,Singapore, UK, Uruguay, and the US. The reports fromthe <strong>HL7</strong> Around the World session along with those fromE-HIM can be downloaded from the pages of the InternationalCouncil at www.<strong>HL7</strong>.org/international.The next Sunday meeting of the International Council isplanned in Cambridge on October 3, 2010.
