When it comes to electronics for the working musician,Ibanez has been at it for a long time.In the ‘70s, when bands like the Grateful Dead wanted totake the amazing sounds they were creating in the studioout on the road, Ibanez created some of the first workingrack gear like the AD230 and the AD2000 to do just that. When the Dead wanted to clean up the mess of wireson stage created by their various effects pedals, Ibanezdesigners came up with the UE700 – the first fullyintegrated multi-effects unit. From then on, it was anon-stop push to do more.Ibanez continued to work on perfecting its compacteffects and in 1980 released the now legendary TS808Tube Screamer. This led to the 1982 introduction of theNine Series, which included the TS9 Tube Screamer,FL9 Flanger, CS9 Chorus and AD9 Analog Delay. Over theyears, the reputation these pedals established has grownamong tone connoisseurs to the extent that they’vebecame effects icons in their own right. Long afterproduction had ceased, collectors sought them out inpawnshops and vintage gear shows, driving their streetvalue through the roof. Ultimately, the demand became sostrong that Ibanez could nolonger ignore it, and the covetedcompacts were carefullyrecreated and reissued. Todayyou’ll find these pedals–bothoriginal and reissue–still onthe job with famous and notso-famousworking playersaround the world. While those vintage stompboxes are the standard bywhich all other classic effects are judged, Ibanez hada very non-vintage vision for its guitar amplifiers. In1998, Ibanez began offering amps built for heavy rockand metal guitarists like those playing our RG six- andseven-strings. Tone Blaster amps were loaded with massiveoverdrive and distortion and total in-your-face tones.aworkinghistoryThe amps started small to keep it sane. And when peopleasked for more, Ibanez gave it to them…with 100 wattTone Blaster stacks and then the monstrous 120 wattall-tube Thermion. But it’s the working player–the onewho’s out there night after night–that our guitar and bassamps are really made for. Their durability and reliability havemade them the envy of many established amp makers.Which brings us to 2007. The redesigned Tone Blastersare even louder and more extreme than the originals–afeat not easily achieved. We’re also proud to offer the newMIMX series, our first modeling amps, which offerclassic sounds as well as new, aggressive, overdriventones for today. But it’s not all about radical tones. Our bestselling Sound Wave bass amps continue toprovide the groove in every genre. And our allanalogTroubadour acoustic amps still offer themost natural, high-fidelity sound around. Ibanezalso offers a wide range of smartly designed electronictuners to make sure your tones are always in tune.Whether your playing is acoustically uplifting orelectrically lethal, Ibanez electronics can help you getthe sound you’re going for. FL9 flanger“Flanging is a form of phasing that creates alinear harmonic response across the audiospectrum. The result is a swooshing that, at itsmost extreme, recalls the sound produced bya passing jet. I was promptly addicted to theFL9’s airy flanging, which rode the frequencyof my sustained signal like a surfer riding thecrest of a wave. As with the other NineSeries pedals, the FL9’s effect never interferedwith the response of my original signaland remained clean and pure.”CS9 stereo chorus“Chorus is one of the guitarist’s mostcommonly used effects for its ability todouble and thicken tone, as well as create astereo picture from a mono source. I splitthe CS9’s output between two Fender combosand marveled at its ability to createelaborate and lush tones that were nevermushy or weak. The CS9 was equally goodat creating subtle enhancements thatwould define a guitar within the mix.”Above excerpts from Guitar World review article, “Ibanez Nine Series Resissue Pedals,” January 2007. (“Victoria,” “Soldano”,“Mesa,” and “Fender” names referenced within the review are trademarks of their respective owners.)AD9 analog delay“I tested the AD9 reissue using Victoria, Soldanoand Mesa amps and found its tone and overallperformance spectacular. When adjustedproperly, the AD9 creates natural reverb-likeecho that strikes just the right blend of warmthand precision. Even when I ran my amps loudand clean, proper settings of the AD9 yieldsweet repeat and decay characteristics thatsound like an extension of the cabinet andamplifier rather than the result of an outboarddevice. It works its charm for significantly lessthan the cost of a rackmount analog delay, yet sounds every bit as good.”14COMPACTE F F E C T SSometimes it’s best to keep it simple. Which is why, ina world of dizzying often over-complex technology, thedurable, dependable and simple stompbox continues tobe the most widely used and effective means to expand, color, distort, mutate, sustain and twist tone. When you look over stompbox-loaded pro rigs featured in theguitar mags, you’ll find few that don’t feature a Tube Screamerof one sort or another–one of the reasons the original TubeScreamers fetch such high prices. You don’t need to shellsuch big bucks to get the same effect. Our handwired TS9 andTS808 reissues recapture with complete accuracy the classictones of the originals. And our machine-wired Tone-Lok TS7provides the same famous overdriven Tube Screamer tonesfor a fraction of the price. But our compact effects go far beyond overdrive.Between our handwired Nine Series reissues like thevenerable CS9, FL9 and AD9 and the vast assortmentof Tone-Lok pedals, you can create or lay waste to anysonic landscape you can imagine.TS808 the original tube screamer ®“Ah, the Tube Screamer. Has there ever been a stompbox more reveredthan this puke green masterpiece? Methinks not. The reissue pedalmakes it easy to hear why players–particularly blues cats–go cuckoofor the 808. Rather than slam your amplifier’s front end with copiousamounts of gain, the TS808 gently coaxes a warm overdrive that ismore tube-like than many pedals that sport tubes.”“Stompbox Fever ”TS808 Review (Awarded Editors Pick) Guitar Player magazine, June 2004TS9/TS9DX tube screamersBoth our TS9 Tube Screamer reissue and TS9DX Turbo Tube Screamerfeature the TA75558 chip used in most of the original TS9’s with theTS9DX adding three settings for increased low-end crunch.TS9Winner of Guitar Player magazine Readers’ Choice AwardBest Stompbox 200415
