The Great Expectations Modelis rooted in six basic tenets: the ability of all children to learn, buildingself-esteem, climate of mutual respect, high expectations, teacherattitude and responsibility, and teacher knowledge and skill. Instructionis both rigorous and challenging, which allows each student to performat his or her highest level. “Our students also learn valuable life skillsthat equip them for success beyond their time at Richmond,” PrincipalDarren Nelson says.Sk y l I NE E l E ME N TA R y ScHOOlNewly renovated in 2005, Skyline includes nearly ninety thousandsquare feet of state-of-the-art learning space, as well as a twenty-acreoutdoor classroom just north of the school. Skyline is one of threeTitle I schools in Stillwater and is proud to serve a diverse populationof students. Skyline personnel include forty-four certified teachers,twenty-five support staff, and numerous OSU/community volunteers.Skyline’s parent support system involves college students and businessprofessionals. “We welcome all new families and look forward toenriching the lives of our students,” says Principal Blake Ryan.4
