Peter Fleming 37THE CONISTON COPPERMINES^OLIShowing winding arrangements atHospital Shaft, Paddy End Mine.Once again we were denied access to Deep Level, but high in the stopeto the north was what appeared to be a sub-level which wouldcorrespond to the one shown on the old mine plans. The most interestingdiscovery was a complete ore wagon partially buried in the rubble abovethe base of the stope. It was the first one we had found in ConistonMines. It was of an all steel construction and appeared to be an endtipper. There was no way it could have fallen from Grey Crag Level, sowe assumed it came from the sub-level. To date this stope has not beenre-visited, and no effort has been made to reach the sub-level.
