Have you ever wondered what the judge was thinking in the ring?Attend an International (European style) Show and find out!The International All-Breed Canine Association of America (IABCA) began approximatelyseventeen years ago with the intent of making an International "UCI" Championship Title availableto the American public while not exposing the dogs to the danger and inconvenience ofinternational travel. To accomplish this, an association was formed with an InternationalAssociation of dog clubs headquartered in Germany, the Union Cynologie International (UCI). TheUCI organization has been in existence for over 30 years. There are many countries, throughoutEurope, North America and the Far East, represented in the association. Through UCI,International Titles are awarded to dogs who meet the requirements.IABCA shows are held in accordance with the German regulations and guidelines that havebeen established by UCI. The guidelines provide for a WRITTEN CRITIQUE OF EACH DOG ENTEREDand a rating number (see Rating Chart) of how well the dog conforms to the International "UCI"breed standard. The rating a dog received, based on the critique, will determine the type ofchampionship certificate, if any, that is awarded in the class (see rating chart and titlerequirements). However, each dog will receive an "URKUNDE" (certificate of participation) with it'sclass placement noted.NOTE: The International "UCI" standards are based on the "country of origin" for eachbreed, if possible.Important reminder: It is not a requirement that a dog be registered with IABCA to beexhibited at a sanctioned show. However, in order for any certificates awarded to be applicabletowards a "UCI" title THE DOG MUST BE REGISTERED WITH IABCA WITHIN 40 DAYS AFTER THE SHOWDATE.Who Shows At International Shows? The typical entry at an IABCA International Show is an AKC recognized breed (around 76% ofthe entry is made up of these breeds.) The number of Rare Breeds showing is growing each year. The overall quality of the dogs is quite high, with many of the dogs already Champions of Record. The majority of the dogs are owner handled, but professional handling is allowed. Breeder/Ownerhandling is recognized with the Best Bred-by Exhibitor in Show Award. Long time IABCA exhibitorsare recognized by our new Gold Cup Series, where dogs of Ehren Champion ranking or higher areable to compete for BIS Gold Cup. Seasoned exhibitors enjoy having an additional venue to showtheir quality dogs and earn additional titles “International”. The shows are also, good for thenovice exhibitor, providing an opportunity to “show” their dogs in a relaxed atmosphere, within alearning environment. A primary focus of the IABCA shows is education and a sharing ofknowledge, between the exhibitors and the judges. Many exhibitors enjoy the shows because of therelaxed atmosphere of a small show where every exhibit has a ‘good look’ due to the writtencritiques. The International shows have a social atmosphere of a day out with your dog. Thejudges enjoy the shows because they can take the time to talk to each exhibitor without timelimits.ABOUT ALLE RASSE GRUPPE (All Breed Group)The Alle Rasse Gruppe is the first club (gruppe) formed in the United States under theparent club IABCA. Beginning in the year 1995, all International (UCI) Shows held in the UnitedStates will be hosted by clubs sanctioned by IABCA. The shows will be held according to all rulesand guidelines of UCI, and IABCA. All registrations of dogs will continue to be made with IABCA.All International Titles will continue to be awarded by the UCI in Germany. IABCA plans to host oneor two shows per year, in the United States, all other International UCI Shows will be sanctioned byIABCA and Hosted by the member clubs (Gruppen).
