Assisting Lloyd was NancyNichols, the medical education projectcoordinator. Llyod talked about someof the warning signs of Alzheimer’sdisease, such as: trouble performingfamiliar tasks, loss of initiative, problemsmaking decisions, changes injudgment, misplacing things all thetime, and mood, behavior andpersonality changes. You shouldworry about things that youused to be able to do well butnow you’re having troubledoing, but not to worryabout things that younever could do well. She saidit helps your brain to staymentally active, by socially interacting with otherpeople, doing all sorts of puzzles and watchinggame shows. In other words, the more you useyour brain, the longer it will take to developmemory symptoms.She said it is not normal to get confused all thetime. If you notice someone having these sorts ofproblems, you can help. There is plenty of assistancefor people who have Alzheimer’s or whothink that they may have the disease. Thereare clinics for assessments and tests. There aremedications to help. Finally, diet and exercise isimportant to help prevent the disease.
