12. “From Sunday to Thursday this week Omaha Memorial hosted a wonderful VBSprogram called "Go Fish" that focused on teaching kids about how to help their neighborsand share the Gospel of Jesus,” says Associate Pastor Brien Wahlen. “Aside from the fungames, crafts and singing, the kids learned about missions and what it's like to help otherslocally and globally. Through a special project called, "Kids with a Mission" the VBSprogram raised $214.62 which will be used to send Bibles to children around theworld and also made special care packages which will go to the local Bergan Mercyhospital. ‘It's good to see kids get excited about Jesus and want to get involved in thingsthat will help others,’ said Terry Rushlau, who is just one of the many hard working anddedicated VBS team members who made all of this possible,” shares Pastor Brien.
13. “This past Sabbath, Kansas City New Haven celebrated International Day!” sharesAssociate Pastor Chanda Nunes. “It featured the ‘Parade of the Nations,’ a 60-VoiceKenyan Choir from the United Central SDA Church in Minnesota—who also presentedour afternoon concert with the Chapel Oaks Quartet and others, powerful preaching fromPastor Munene Mwangi, and after second service we hosted a “pot-luck sample-styled”luncheon where over 400 were served! Sunday morning was concluded with a prayerbreakfast which included everything from South African Watermelon, to KenyanMendaza, to Korean Sushi, to good old American Apple pie. It was quite the feast tobehold. Even Pastor Douglas participated by bringing and serving his famous EnglishTriffle! We have already started planning for next year’s International Sabbath, and yes,the “Canadian Cool-Aid” will be featured once again. New Haven proudly boasts over 33
