Dear FRIENDS I am pleased to provide you with this annual report which profi les some of our outstanding Moravian students and faculty, and the innovative research projects they have recently undertaken together. Student-faculty research at Moravian received a tremendous boost with the establishment of the Ervin J. Rokke Endowment for Student-Faculty Research, which Mrs. Priscilla Payne Hurd, chairman of the Moravian College Board of Trustees, endowed in August 2005 with an extremely generous $1.5 million gift. The profi les contained in this annual report are examples of the great things that happen at Moravian when excellent students, accomplished faculty members, dedicated staff and administrators, and dynamic, active trustee leadership join forces. Our educational program is about working together, sharing resources for the benefi t of our students, and through them benefiting the communities in which we all live, work, and serve. Your continued generosity, support and commitment to Moravian help to fuel these successes and accomplishments. We are most thankful to you, our closest friends! I am especially grateful for being called to serve as Moravian’s 15th president at a time when the College has seen several years of great accomplishment under the excellent leadership of former president Ervin J. Rokke. From highly visible improvements to the campus infrastructure to increasing the quality of our student life and academic programs, the members of our campus community have accomplished much and should be justifi ably proud. As you peruse this annual report, I hope you will share my sense of excitement for the bright future of Moravian College and Moravian Theological Seminary. Moravian is on the move! I sensed this movement, this dynamic quality of life as I was going through the presidential search process. I sensed that the members of the Moravian community are not about maintaining the status quo, but about growth, and about discerning the next steps to take as an institution so that our mission can be lived out in even more vigorous and meaningful ways to the direct benefi t of the many constituencies which we serve. I feel deeply grateful to be invited to become a part of a community on the move, poised for even greater service in the years to come. Christopher M.
