ComponentsSonic Wideband Multibeam systems represent new moderndesign and architecture, unencumbered by legacy designs. The heavy, bulky and power consuming topside electroniccomponents that characterize old mutlibeam echo soundertechnology have been eliminated.Sonic 2024The sonar consists of three major components:a compact and lightweight projector, a receiver and a smalldry side Sonar Interface Module (SIM). The extremely lowpower draw of 50W (for Sonic 2024) and 35W (for Sonic2022) makes it possible to operate the systems on vesselbattery power.Unlike other commercial shallow water multibeam echoSonic 2022sounder systems, all processing is embedded in the sonarreceiver, dramatically increasing system efficiency andsimplicity in integration.Third party auxiliary sensors are connected to the sonarInterface module. The sonar data is tagged with GPS time. The compact size, low weight, low power consumption andelimination of separate topside processors make SonicWideband Multibeam systems very well suited for smallsurvey vessel or ROV/AUV operations.Sonar Interface Module (SIM)For AUV integration, apart from the transmit and receivetransducer, the only hardware to be housed on the AUV isan interface board the size of a PC/104, Ethernet ports, andthe provision of isolated 48V DC power.AUV Survey Operation withSonic Wideband Multibeam system
