Imagine the Impact
Imagine the impact that one donor can have
on one UNI student. Imagine the impact that
one scholarship has on one student studying to
become a math teacher; the impact of one math
teacher on a room full of 30 fourth graders staring
at her with perplexed faces; those fourth graders
progressing through elementary, junior high, high
school and college with confident, inquisitive
minds. Now, multiply that one donor by 16,000
per year—imagine the impact!
Thanks to all of you—the 16,000 who are making a difference in the
lives of our students, faculty and the world beyond our classrooms. We
have never had this many contributors in one year!
As we look to the future, UNI is well poised to outperform its past
in fulfilling its mission. Imagine the possibilities as we seize every
opportunity to recruit the best and the brightest students and faculty,
and to provide them with the support they need to succeed. We

“There are no scholarships in Lima, Peru,
my native country,” says international
student, Alejandra Garcia. She is one of
five recipients of a UNI Parents Association
(UNIPA) Scholarship for the 2007/2008
academic year.
All first-time contributions to the UNI Annual Fund will be matched up to $50,000
by the UNI Foundation Board of Trustees
Alumni provide banner year of
support for UNI Annual Fund
“What a banner year for the UNI Annual Fund.
While there is a downward trend in alumni
giving across the nation, UNI has experienced
a steady upturn in alumni participation over the
past three years. With a 13 percent participation
rate, UNI leads the way over peer institutions,
which average 6.1 percent. Much of our
success is attributed to the excellent rapport that
our student callers develop with alumni,” says
Vicki Collum, director of UNI Annual Giving.
Contributions to the UNI Annual Fund provide
the resources to acquire student opportunities
such as travel, internships, lectures by
internationally renowned speakers and
scholarships.

Graduates of the last decade are invited to
become a part of the UNI Annual Fund’s most
prestigious giving society – The Campanile
Society.
“We realize new graduates face many life
changes in their first years out of UNI. Student
loans, establishing families and careers, moves,
etc. make it difficult for our young alums to
support UNI in the way they might wish to,”
said Vicki Collum, director of Annual Giving.
“We wanted to give them an opportunity to be
recognized for their leadership in giving, and
become part of a very special group of leaders
who support the annual fund at a high level,”
said Collum.

“Receiving a scholarship is very special to me and especially a parentawarded
scholarship. I’m in college because of my own parents’
support, both financially and through their daily encouragement,” says
Alejandra.
Five years ago Alejandra moved to Clarion, Iowa, along with her parents
and two sisters. She said her dad made the decision to step out of his
comfort zone and move his family to the United States. Her mother left
a teaching job and all her family to come here, but everyone agrees it
was the best decision.
Alejandra says, “I’m a strong advocate for helping others, so I love being
a Student Ambassador and showing potential students how wonderful
UNI is. I want to share all the good things that I’ve experienced and tell
them why UNI has been a perfect fit for me.”
Young Alums invited to become Emerging Leaders
By contributing $100 for each year after
graduation up to ten years, young alumni will
become part of The Campanile Society.
“We hope this special offer will help us
significantly recognize the generosity of our
younger alums. The Campanile Society is truly a
special group of people,” said Collum.
