<strong>The</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Free</strong> <strong>Alliance</strong> <strong>Group</strong><br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Parliament</strong><br />
Every five years people elect <strong>the</strong>ir Members of <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>European</strong> <strong>Parliament</strong> (MEPs). <strong>The</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Free</strong><br />
<strong>Alliance</strong> is made up of MEPs from stateless nations,<br />
regions and m<strong>in</strong>orities. In <strong>the</strong> 2009 - 2014 term<br />
EFA MEPs are from Catalunya, Corsica, Flanders,<br />
Latvia, Scotland and Wales.<br />
With<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Parliament</strong> MEPs work <strong>in</strong> political<br />
groups. EFA members have formed a common<br />
group <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Parliament</strong> with <strong>the</strong> Green<br />
Parties s<strong>in</strong>ce 1999.<br />

EFA's aims and objectives<br />
<strong>The</strong> EFA <strong>Group</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Parliament</strong> works for:<br />
l self-determ<strong>in</strong>ation for nations and regions<br />
l <strong>the</strong> decentralisation of decision mak<strong>in</strong>g<br />
l <strong>the</strong> protection of human rights<br />
l a strong, susta<strong>in</strong>able economy<br />
l <strong>in</strong>ternational solidarity
