- Stay in touch with your attorney and your caseworker. Be sure they always havea current address and telephone number for you.- Things move very quickly in child abuse and neglect cases. Be sure that youknow what you are supposed to do and when, and then do it. It could make thedifference in whether your child is returned to you.Who Will Be Involved in Your Case?CPS CaseworkerWhen your child is removed from your home, you will be given a notice of removal andthe name and phone number of the CPS investigative caseworker. After approximatelytwo to three weeks, your investigative worker will transfer the case to anothercaseworker.
