The Dramune RunGarlus Tylappar has a problem. He’s number oneon a mobster’s hit list. This crusty old skipper haslost his crew, his freighter has a hole in it, and he’sdying of cancer. But his troubles have only begun.On his sleek freighter, the Gullwind, Garlus carriesa peculiar cargo: two furry animals calledchukkahs. Chukkahs are the official symbol of aplanet in the Dramune System. On that planet,they’re protected, honored, and loved. But in thehands of a mobster called the Malthar, they’rehamburger—because chukkah brains are the verysecret ingredient in the Malthar’s popular and illegalnew drug.Garlus doesn’t know what the Malthar does tochukkahs. But he knows they’re being smuggled offtheir home planet and taken to the Malthar’s spacestation. And that’s a crime so serious that it couldmean war in the Dramune System, perhaps endingthe Malthar’s regime. Obviously, the Malthar cannotallow Garlus to expose him.So the chase is on! Garlus has fled to the other sideof the Frontier. Now he must return to Dramune toexpose this horrible crime. But first, he must find anew crew (the Malthar murdered the last one). Andhe must find a good crew, even if he must lie topersuade them to join him.The new crew has much to look forward to. They’llhave the chance to inherit the Gullwind, if they helpcrush a detestable thug king.
