<strong>Foundation</strong> Board Inducts New Members,Elects New Executive Committee and HonorsChristian Service Awards Committee<strong>The</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong><strong>Community</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong>Board of Directors metJune 10 to hold its finalmeeting for the 2008-2009 fiscal year andinduct new members.<strong>The</strong> Board alsorecognized and honoredthe Christian ServiceAwards Committee forits outstanding efforts inenhancing the ChristianService Awards programvia marketing materials,the application process,and the addition of a personal interviewcomponent for all applicants. Duringhis tenure, Board Chairman Dan Santypresided over an increase in the numberof Christian Service awards, which grewto 17; a 2008 Grants Luncheon thatdistributed more than $380,000 in grantsto 62 organizations; and the <strong>21st</strong> <strong>Crozier</strong><strong>Gala</strong>, which netted more than $170,000for future grant contributions. As he says,“<strong>The</strong>se successes are even more significantwhen you consider the economic climate—they truly demonstrate <strong>Catholic</strong> stewardshipin action. It has been a privilege to serveas Chairman of the Board and I lookforward to supporting incoming ChairmanJohn Sack.”Longtime friend of the <strong>Foundation</strong> JohnSack, Ph.D., takes over from Dan SantyJohn Sack, Ph.D., ChairmanKeith Tigue, Vice ChairmanMaria Chavira, Ph.D., Treasurer2009-2010 Board Chairman,John Sack, Ph.D.for 2009-2010, bringinga wealth of experience tohis role. A Board officerand Executive Committeemember for the last threeyears, Dr. Sack previouslyserved on the Finance andInvestment committee for10 years and the Legacycommittee for three. Asincoming Chairman, Johnhas a twofold goal: “I amcommitted to generatinggreater awareness about the<strong>Foundation</strong> and its role inthe <strong>Catholic</strong> community,while also creating more opportunities forindividuals and agencies to participate inphilanthropy through its programs.”He sees that growth in awarenesscoming from Board and Committeemembers. As active participants in<strong>Foundation</strong> programs and funds, theyserve as emissaries of the <strong>Foundation</strong>in professional, social and parishcommunities. As he says, “It is sorewarding to support the <strong>Foundation</strong> atany level. For example, witnessing the joyof 8th grade students and their familiesas they receive Christian Service Awardsor assisting Seminarians with tuitionfunding are both great blessings.
