<strong>David</strong> <strong>Explores</strong> <strong>Gaucher</strong> <strong>Disease</strong>ABOUT THE AUTHORCAROL S. FISHER, RN, is a research nurse/coordinator at the neurogenetics lab at New YorkUniversity School of Medicine. Born in St. Louis,Missouri, she was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Shereceived a BA in theater from St. Louis Universityand a teacher’s certification from the University ofTexas at Dallas. After that, she taught high schoolin Palmer, Texas, before moving east to attend theShakespeare Conservatory in New York City. Shelater went back to school and received her nursingdegree from Felician College in New Jersey andwent to work at St. Clare’s Hospital in New York City.She has been working with Dr. Pastores at the NYUSchool of Medicine for 14 years. She has spoken atnumerous patient meetings for <strong>Gaucher</strong> patients.She has trained other nurses on various treatmentsfor <strong>Gaucher</strong> disease. She lives in Teaneck, NewJersey, with her husband and four sons. In her“sparse” spare time, as she describes it, she actsand directs at her local community theater.ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATORHOWARD MCWILLIAM, known as “McBill,”was for many years a financial journalist beforehe decided to become an illustrator full time.His illustrations have appeared in numerousmagazines, journals and children’s books inEngland as well as the United States. His firstpicture book, I Need My Monster by AmandaNoll, was published in 2008.
