24 The reaction products and kinetics of the oxidation and volatilisation of deposited soot particles (real diesel soot, spark discharge soot, hexabenzocoronene) by nitrogen oxides and oxygen have been characterised for a wide range of conditions (temperature, gas composition, space velocity), using FTIR spectroscopy and complementary analytical techniques. A detailed analysis and mechanistic interpretation of the measurement results as well as complementary experiments and model calculations are under way.
