Celebrating45 years of FieldaysFieldays is 45 years old and still growing strong!From the very beginning, Fieldays hasexceeded expectations. At the first eventan estimated 10,000 – 15,000 visitorsstreamed through the gates (and overthe fences!) of the original venue, TeRapa Racecourse. It became obvious thatthe growing event couldn’t be held atTe Rapa forever, leading to the purchaseof the Mystery Creek site in 1970 on a100% mortgage of $62,000. While thesecond Fieldays took place at Te RapaRacecourse, it was all hands on deckto prepare the ragwort-riddled MysteryCreek site for its first event in 1971.One of the first buildings and thecentrepiece of the event was the GuestNation Pavilion, now the Gallagherbuilding. Originally, Fieldays hosted adifferent nation each year. The yearlyfocus has now moved to a PremierFeature theme, but internationalexhibitors are still welcomed to Fieldays.Fieldays has grown from strength tostrength.
