68 Chapter 44 InterdisciplinaryConnectionsThree of my friends—one a PhD candidate in literature, one a humanitiesteacher, and the other an engineer—all have one thingin common: a love of nature, rivers in particular. The literaturestudent uses philosophy and literary theory as a foundation for studyingand writing about rivers.
