C a y c e ’ s W i s D o m f o r t o d a yVibrations and Soul ExpressionBy Kevin J. Todeschi and Henry Reed, PhDWe hear a lot about “energy” and “vibes” andhow certain people radiate good vibrationswhile others emit bad energy. Sometimes weuse expressions like “that individual is a psychicdrain,” or “I feel really good just being around that person,” or“he has great vibes.” At some level, we understand that there isa correspondence between who an individual is and the kinds ofenergy or vibrations that she or he puts off. The Cayce informationsuggests that there is an interconnection between a person’ssoul and her or his personal vibrational pattern – a vibration thatis as unique as a fingerprint. We can imagine how vibrationsmight look like the ripples that appearon the surface of a lake when a stone istossed into the water. Similarly, we canvisualize how the vibrations of a tuningfork would appear as it oscillates insomeone’s hand. It is more difficult toimagine how the vibrations of peopleappear, but most individuals have asense of the vibrations of certain peopleand even how those vibrations affectthem. For example, imagine what kindof “vibes” we would pick up on, havinglunch with a spiritual figure suchas Gandhi or Mother Teresa, and howthat experience would differ from beingaround a professional comedian or apolitician running for re-election. Thethoughts and activities of people createa vibration. Vibrations are a physicalactivity with an energetic effect that wecan experience. At the same time, theyalso contain information that we canperceive.Scientists have confirmed with instrumentationthat people pick up otherpeople’s moods in less than one second. They call it “emotional contagion.”They theorize that it occurs througha process of unconscious mimicry, anatural empathic act that Cayce wouldcall “attunement.” When a personspeaks, the voice projects vibrations. Ifanother person intentionally attunes tothe vibrations in the speaker’s voice, theempathic listener will become aware ofinternal impressions, images, memories, and thoughts. In published researchconducted with students of the Caycematerial, the intuitive listener’s impressionsoften contained information aboutthe speaker’s personality, life situation, and even past lives. Just as an individualcan intentionally make an attunement, the listener can also cease the attunementand be free of any residual effects.Of course not all vibrations are asobvious as the voice. Even when we aresitting next to someone silently, withour eyes closed, we still experience thevibrations at various levels. The samething happens at a distance, as manyscientific studies of psychic communicationhave confirmed. The Cayceinformation repeatedly noted that atthe level of our subconscious minds, allhumans are connected, in the sense thatwhat occurs in the subconscious of oneperson can affect the subconscious ofanyone else. These effects are usuallysubliminal, but we can bring them intoawareness. Notice a sudden mood shiftthat seems without basis. By tuning intoour imagination, we can experience images, memories, and other content thatwill reveal to us some of the informationin that mood, and often its source inanother person. By observing the moodin this way, we free ourselves from thesubliminal contagion of the vibrationsand turn it into something to examinefor greater awareness. There’s a perfect example fromScripture of how a person’s vibration canaffect someone else. In Mark 5:24-34 isthe story of a woman who suffered for 12years with a physical ailment, spendingmuch time and all her resources tryingto get well. She had heard about theteachings of Jesus and as a last resort shedecided to find him. She simply touchedthe hem of his robe and she became well. How was that possible? Because the garmentHe wore had picked up His energy, and when the woman touched the robe, the vibrations of that energy passed intoher and effected a healing. It’s important to realize that it’s not justthe garment of someone like Jesus thatpicks up energy. It’s every piece of clothingwe wear; it’s all of our surroundings;it’s every strand of hair on our heads;it’s every cell in our body. And thesevibrations originate not only from our40 7 EdgarCayce.org
