Dear Friends,
Thank you for your generous support of Hennepin County Medical Center through the Hennepin Health
Foundation. Our unique position of being Minnesota’s largest safety net and public teaching hospital offers
innovative ways for the community to make an impact with their philanthropy. This document celebrates the
success of our second year and recognizes the donors who impacted these achievements with their financial,
sponsorship, volunteer and in-kind support.
The Hennepin Health Foundation is here to help you imagine the power your generosity can achieve on the aid
and comfort of our patients and families, towards breaking down barriers with healthcare innovation, sponsoring
education initiatives, or impacting research tackling some of today’s major health issues.
We celebrate the success of our second year and recognize the donors
who impacted these achievements with their financial, sponsorship,
volunteer and in-kind support.
Results of this generosity include a new computer database and assessment tool to indentify traumatic brain
inquiries and prevent recurrent TBI and second impact syndrome. An issue especially prevalent in youth sports
and brought to light in 2011. Our fundraising success also allowed for additional prostate cancer screenings,
a summer lunch program, counselors for addiction medicine and women’s health services, new cultural
approaches to reduce obesity in children, increased capacity for our poison center, emergency preparedness,
and emergency medicine programs, and expansion of healthcare access in our community clinics.
And to cap off the year, we launched the Innovation in Medical Education Fund at our Light Up the Night gala.
The $200,000 raised will strengthen our ability to take care of Minnesota by educating and training the healthcare
providers that take care of you and those you love.
With the continued trust and support of the community and individuals like you, the Hennepin Health Foundation
is poised for a strong and successful future supporting the mission of Hennepin County Medical Center.
And for that we are most grateful.
Sincerely,
Gaylan L. Rockwold, MD
